OCCMS were approached in January 2020 with a request to support Commissioning Test Procedure (CTP) writing for a new UK client.

Their Nigerian client had a need to accelerate their commissioning schedule by 6 weeks to ensure on-time start-up of their new conductor supported platform in the Niger Delta.

The Challenge

The challenge for OCCMS to embrace entailed screening, recruiting, and onboarding a team of Senior Commissioning Engineers to be based in OCCMS’ Aberdeen office with the ability to hit the ground running for a period of 8 weeks to ensure the clients requirement was met.

This had to be in accordance with the contractually agreed fixed price budget, to the expected competency and on time.

Although OCCMS were geographically displaced from this client’s location and that of some members of their Commissioning and Completions Team, the opportunity for us to demonstrate our capabilities in our fast turnaround and reactive service provision.

The Solution

OCCMS set to work to ensure we chose the most appropriate and readily available resources who were known to or had been used by the business previously. The project was managed by our in-house Project Sponsor and Technical Delivery Lead who agreed the technical content required with the client focal point, agreed the volume of procedures required and managed the expectations for delivery on both sides.

Twenty-Three Commissioning Test Procedures were agreed upon which included iterations to Revision A and C respectively with a scheduled round table review between each revision carried out over video conferring facilities.

The OCCMS select team ensured that the client expectations and agreed milestones were met in a professional and committed manner.

The Outcome

All procedures were delivered in a logical, phased, and timely manner to which they were client approved within eight weeks from start of project to close out. The project achieved the technical and financial close out requirements as agreed with the client on budget and was marked as a success for all parties.

A subsequent request from the client post close out offered the opportunity for the native procedures to be shared with them so they could be blended with the overall CSU and Ops procedures.

OCCMS kept a keen eye on the overall success of the project in the relevant industry bulletins and are very pleased to have been a part of that success.
