Our client is a leading member of the petroleum industry. With over 100 years operational experience, they are on of the largest producers of crude oil and natural gas.

They are currently recruiting for the position of Mechanical Completion Coordinator, based in Northern Alberta.

Job Description 

  • Champion Mechanical Completion Safety 
  • Develops plans for transitions from Construction to Mechanical Completion to System Completion 
  • Manages transition of Area based Construction Superintendents to that necessary for mechanical completion 
  • Manages Construction Superintendents for mechanical completion 
  • Interfaces with the Site Quality Advisor & Site Commissioning Lead for system completions database management with regard to mechanical completion and administers mechanical completion record management 
  • Coordinate interface and interaction with contractors and subcontractors, and with operations and drilling personnel on site 
  • Have lead responsibility for commissioning planning, preparations, verification, and documentation 
  • Oversee the execution of mechanical completion of the structure and facilities 
  • Management of contractor Permit-To-Work system 
  • Report progress, performance, initiatives, issues, and challenges to Infrastructure Construction Manager 
  • Serve as member of the Project Management Team when project assigned 
  • Champion on-site safety awareness and safe performance with contractor and among Project Team members 
  • Coordination of MC planning, verification, and documentation by the use of Mechanical Completion Check Records and Walk Down Check Lists, punch lists, as-builts, etc 
  • Coordinate interfaces and interactions between discipline/area leads and contractor mechanical completion (MC) group 
  • Tracking Mechanical Completion to Systems Completion integration to facilitate an effective commissioning campaign 
  • Responsible for overall coordination of mechanical completion discipline-related activities 
  • Provide input to and review development of contractor's detailed plans to prioritize mechanical completion activities 
  • Monitor and appraise contractor construction activities and performance. Determine any corrective actions needed in order to meet mechanical completion objectives and work to have these implemented
  • Coordinates on-site Operations and company personnel regarding planning and implementation of mechanical completion activities 
  • Manage punch list activities with project team groups 
  • Confirm incorporation of vendor punch list in MC walk-downs/punch outs for System and Sub-System MC Certification 
  • Supports commissioning teams and operations teams during commissioning and start-up activities 
  • Audit/Oversight of MC Dossier


Skills & Experience

  • BS/MS in Engineering 
  • Extensive multi-disciplined experience in systems completion & mechanical completion 
  • Through understanding of computer systems used for reporting, tracking, data acquisition and analysis

As Senior Commissioning Engineer your main responsibilities will include:

  • Generation of commissioning procedures.
  • Witnessing factory acceptance tests.
  • On site (onshore and offshore) commissioning of the new/modified facilities.
  • Generation of commissioning completion dossiers.
  • Ensuring the timely handover to the operations of fully commissioned plant.
  • Control and updating of certification progress on site.
  • Co-ordinate the carrying out of modifications/repairs arising during commissioning activities

Education & Qualifications:

  • HNC / Degree or City & Guilds with relevant experience.

Specific Training / Specialist Skills:

  • Familiar with DCS systems, preferably Rockwell and Honeywell.
  • Familiarity with offshore & onshore O & F processes.
  • Good knowledge of certification (GOC).
  • PC application skills - Microsoft Word, Excel etc.

Experience:

  • Experience in oil and gas industry or similar industry, in an engineering/operations role.
  • Knowledge and understanding of key documents such as P+ID's, Cause and Effects, Fire and Gas logic diagrams.
  • Hands on experience of commissioning new process facilities
