Job Description
  • To coordinate the project completions management system Orbit and activities as required by project schedules, quality and safety.
  • Responsible for the setup and configuration of Completions Management System; Orbit for project requirements
  • Adhere to the Project Completions Handover Philosophy
  • Monitoring data population from source design engineering data
  • Oversee the management of change process, post design freeze
  • Management and control of all project verification activities, for all project phases
  • Verifying and Issuing of Certification for Mechanical Completions,pre-commissioning and Commissioning through to handover to clients
  • Issuing of progress and status reports to management on a predetermined basis
  • Responsible for Mechanical Completion handovers from construction through to commissioning, start up and ultimately Operations. Compilation of mechanical completion and commissioning handover dossiers for client approval and plant acceptance
  • Observe and update system delineation and system limit drawings
  • Supervision and training of data entry clerks
  • Implementation and coordination of a preservation management system

Skills & Knowledge

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in Completions and Commissioning
  • Must be familiar with codes, standards, regulations and practices applicable to the design and construction of onshore production facilities
  • Must have a good working understanding of process/mechanical, pipingm structural, electrical and instrumentation designs relating to onshore oil and gas production facilities
  • Interface Management skills
  • Proven ability to work as an effective team player
  • Knowledge of the functionality of Completion Management Systems (CMS)


  • High degree of computer literacy including past record of administrating Completion Management Systems
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Flexible
  • Ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team
  • National Security Vetting - SC mandatory, DV preferred

Job Description

We are currently seeking a Mechanical Superintendent to work at Kearl Site on a 14d/7d rotation who can start as soon as possible.

  • Responsible for ensuring safe and successful execution of construction activities in their area
  • Participates in Project Management Team
  • Serves as day-to-day interface with construction contractor / craft labor during the execution phase, providing a focus on safety, quality, cost and schedule
  • Provides safety monitoring / leadership
  • Interfaces with QA/QC personnel to address quality issues / progress
  • Provides oversight of contractor's materials management / verification systems
  • Ensures compliance with specifications, procedures and plans
  • Monitors workforce productivities / progress relative to schedule
  • Monitors environmental compliance, as required

Senior Mechanical Completions Engineer

  • Liaison with completions team and the construction team on a daily basis, ensuring that all system/sub-system handover' are completed in line with the schedule.
  • Assist with and mitigate problems affecting the completion and handover of systems.
  • Ensure that certification associated with mechanical completions is completed in line with the project specification and to a standard acceptable by the project.
  • Act as the main point of contact between the construction and commissioning teams.
  • Co-ordinate sub-contractors, MC certification team & all project preservation requirements
  • Daily reporting to the construction manager and commissioning manager on status and problem areas.
  • Reporting to completions team the status of mechanical completion.
  • Review all mechanical completion handover packs prior to submission to commissioning.
  • Formally approve handover certificates to commissioning.
  • Assisting with the set up and population of the project completion system (PCS) database.
  • Responsible for the integrity and security of the system, ensuring all data is processes and recorded
  • Co-ordination of PCS technicians/operators to progress certification produced during the construction phases to achieve handover of systems/sub-systems to commissioning.
  • Responsible for the updating of the PCS system in line with project revisions, change forms, SEQ's etc. and the production of all relevant certification.

Job Description

  • To ensure an understanding of application of all responsibilities with regard to the Company's Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards.
  • To ensure commissioning evidence is recorded and documentation maintained in line with AWE procedures and in compliance with site licence conditions.
  • Support and maintain a culture of zero accidents or incidents relating to occupational and personal safety, security, health issues and environmental matters.
  • Demonstrate a visible and ongoing commitment to safety improvement programmes.
  • Communicating to the commissioning team and contractors the importance of meeting customer, statutory, regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Organise and lead a Test and Commissioning Panel for specific issues when authorised and delegated to do so by the Commissioning Manager.
  • Prepare the Commissioning documents and programmes for those packages and systems in the designated area of responsibility as detailed by the Commissioning Manager.
  • Accept handover of equipment and systems from construction/contractor installation teams.
  • Ensure commissioning procedures are followed as prescribed, assuring timely and accurate signature completion, maintaining hold point control at all times, and ensuring regular checks on quality and recording of data.
  • On completion of relevant training requirements act as Work Supervising Officer for commissioning activities when required.
  • Ensure the Commissioning Manager is kept updated on commissioning progress and is aware of any matter that may cause a schedule slippage so that this can be recognised and mitigated against.
  • Engage with the End User so Operating Instructions and Maintenance Instructions are developed and verified during commissioning activities and opportunities are maximised to undertake training to operate/maintain the equipment.
  • Ensure commissioning reservations are raised and cleared appropriately during the commissioning of equipment and systems.
  • Ensure that modifications are only carried out using approved Change Control procedures.
  • Provide commissioning support during the active commissioning / operational phase as detailed by commissioning management.
  • To engage with other members of the site wide Commissioning and Project Community, enabling Review Learn and improve opportunities and therefore improve project delivery performance by transfer of best practice.

Skills and Experience

  • Recognised technical qualification (ONC/HNC/NVQ) or extensive demonstrable experience in a commissioning environment with nuclear regulatory, quality and engineering requirements or within those industries with analogous processes and oversight constraints.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of commissioning control and indication systems and equipment and an understanding of the mechanical and electrical interface aspects of those systems.
  • Good understanding of plant operation, maintenance and testing.
  • Nuclear plant experience and/or an understanding of the specific hazards and constraints associated with commissioning in that environment.
  • Familiar with the Health & Safety At Work Act, Risk Assessment and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Must have relevant skills in Control and Instrumentation systems operation, integration, setting to work, commissioning and maintenance.
  • Must demonstrate honesty and integrity in the work place, have a robust approach to Environmental Health & Safety demonstrable through behaviour.
  • Good communication skills; be able to integrate with other project disciplines, able to communicate with the Commissioning Manager.
  • Able to deliver and receive clear and concise instructions.
  • Encourage and participate in stakeholder engagement at all levels.
