Job Description 

  • Creating/facilitating/encouraging a suitable working environment, and fostering a positive culture, within which the C&I Engineering design team can function effectively, at the optimum rate 
  • Co-ordination of and contributing to, accurate, up to date, and relevant information to the relevant project Engineering Manager (progress reports etc) 
  • Checking and reviewing deliverables 
  • Co-operate in the production of C&I Engineering design and safety case deliverables 
  • Co-ordination of C&I Engineering design inputs from all sources 
  • Co-ordination of C&I Engineering design information/activities and the resolution of C&I Engineering design issue conflicts 
  • To promote, encourage, manage and apply safe systems of work, with due regard for all Health and Safety legislation and best practice 
  • To deliver a C&I Engineering design which complies with the requirements of the company Design Safety Principles 
  • To ensure that the nuclear safety standards demanded by the site license requirements are met in the delivery of the C&I Engineering design
  • Production of design risk assessments


Skills & Experience 

  • Degree in Engineering Discipline appropriate to the role 
  • Chartered professional, or corporate membership of a relevant professional body/institution 
  • Experience working in an highly regulated industry 
  • Experience of obtaining formal acceptance of design output 
  • Experience of C&I Engineering construction/installation techniques and practices 
  • SC clearance minimum 
  • DV Clearance preferred 
  • Relevant Statutory Instruments e.g. CDM Regulations 
  • Relevant national and international design codes and standards 
  • Construction, installation, commissioning and maintenance practices/requirements in the context of Regulatory scrutiny on a nuclear site 
  • Awareness of National Building Specification 
  • Knowledge of Availability, Reliability and general Maintainability; Fire Detection Systems; PA Systems; Building Management systems and Nuclear vent control; Precision CCTV; Site Telecoms and Networks; Explosive Regulations and Design Codes (not essential); Nuclear Regulations and Design Codes; Alarm monitoring systems; Military Style Security Systems; Facility Management Systems; Radiological monitoring; Personnel Monitoring Systems; Health Physics Monitoring Systems and Tempest Regulations 
  • Commercial awareness of financial implications of design decisions 
  • High level of personal integrity 
  • Determination to succeed and to motivate others to do likewise

As Senior Instrument Engineer your main responsibilities will include:

  • Execute engineering activities (Concept, FEED, Technical Study & Detailed Design)
  • Act as discipline focal point as required
  • Maintain the required technical quality of work
  • Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with Change Control Process
  • Maintain planning and cost control on all scopes
  • Ensure that designs comply with the relevant procedures and regulations
  • Provide technical assistance to discipline assigned staff as required
  • Ensure, as far as practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule
  • Keep up-to-date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline scope
  • Review, check and approve work output of discipline assigned staff as required
  • Prepare estimates and schedules and assist in their review
  • Maintain good communication with the Client and visit Assets when necessary
  • Visit the Assets and carry out site surveys when necessary
  • Assist the Lead Engineer and others when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties
  • Assist in training and mentoring of graduates as required
  • Maintain filing system
  • Encourage and provide lateral learning within the Project

Education & Qualifications:

  • UK Bachelors Degree in Instrument Engineering (preferred) or minimum HND qualification
  • Chartered engineer status
  • Current RGIT Survival Training Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Current Offshore Medical Certificate

Specific Training / Specialist Skills:

  • Fully conversant with UK regulatory environment, standard offshore international and national industry standards and specifications.
  • Experience with planning and co-ordination.
  • Management of change experience/skills
  • Overall understanding of entire technical value chain integration including estimating, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance, inspection testing and repair.
  • Accomplished time management, planning and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to core values.

Experience:

  • Extensive engineering experience, including oil and gas related experience
  • Familiar with brownfield instrument engineering in the O&G industry.
  • Fully conversant with International, National and Client Standards & Specifications
  • Conversant with Engineering software including Word & Excel
  • Good communication, networking, collaboration and well developed team-working skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within team environment

Job Description 
 

  • Prepare and/or check process engineering design deliverables during the FEED stage of this grassroots refinery project specifically with respect to the utilities and offsite systems 
  • Deliverables may include design philosophies, process flow diagrams, design pressure/design temperature diagrams, piping & instrumentation diagrams, process calculations (hydraulics, control valve, relief valve, equipment sizing), process datasheets, summaries (catalyst & chemicals, utilities), process descriptions


Skills & Experience

  • Experience in design of utilities and offsite systems for process plant, commissioning or operation 
  • Knowledge of Saudi Aramco standards
